Since the formation of the Micrima company and our subsequent launch of the MARIA® technology we have been fortunate to have our potential recognised and our work formally acknowledged by our peers in this industry. Below are some of the awards and articles bestowed on the Micrima organisation.
July 2019-Inclusion in the Best Healthcare Startups to watch in 2019
Micrima has been included as one of the 10 startups to watch out for in 2019. This is a publication by insights care and covers companies in the healthcare space that are spearheading this space with innovative services and solutions
December 2018-Sullivan and Frost New product innovation award
Micrima was awarded the Frost and Sullivan new product innovation award in Microwave Technology-based Breast Imaging Industry. In the acknowledgement letter they produced alongside giving the award they stated “To achieve excellence in new product innovation is never an easy task, but it is one made even more difficult considering today’s competitive intensity, customer volatility, and economic uncertainty—not to mention the difficulty of innovating in an environment of escalating challenges to intellectual property. Within this context, your receipt of this Award signifies an even greater accomplishment.”
November 2018-Made in South West award
Micrima was voted the best new manufacturing company in the Medical, Life Sciences and Healthcare category at the 2018 ‘Made in the South West’ business insider annual awards event.
The award was in recognition of the significant advances that the company have made in setting up a new manufacturing business with the potential to grow to become a worldwide supplier of new technology. The judging panel was impressed by Micrima’s growth from an idea conceived at the University of Bristol to the fact that the company now has a CE marked product that is in clinical trials in the UK and soon to be available throughout the world. The panel remarked that they liked the fact that each unit is built by the team at Micrima in our facilities in Bristol and that we have retained manufacturing control over the production of a complex technology that could benefit so many.
September 2018- Disrupt SW index
Micrima was voted number 1 organisation in the disruptSW index. The purpose of this index is to showcase businesses in the South West of the UK that truly disrupt and challenge the current state of play. The award ceremony was packed with start-up companies all with great technology. The list consisted of only the top 25 judged on the calibre of the people in the organisation, the market potential and the potentially disruptive nature of the technology. Micrima were pleased not only to be in the list of 25 but were voted the no1 company.
July 2018- Symposium Mammographicum poster award
Micrima were proud to be awarded the second place in the poster competition at Symposium Mammographicum 2018. The poster featuring the work by Trushali Doshi, David Gibbins, Professor Iain Lyburn and Dr Richard Sidebottom was on the using radio waves for lesion classification in breast cancer. March 2017-Top 50 entrepreneurs
Micrima’s Executive Chairman is recognised in exclusive list of top 50 entrepreneurs. Roy Johnson Executive chairman and founder of Bristol-based company Micrima Ltd were announced as one of the top 50 entrepreneurs by the global number one university business incubator, SETsquared at the House of Commons.
Roy Johnson was on an exclusive list selected from over 1,000 entrepreneurs who were supported by SETsquared during the previous 15 years.
February 2017- Medilink SW award
Members of the South West Life Science and Healthcare community celebrated the achievements of the sector at the Medilink SW 2016 Business & Innovation Awards, held in Bristol. There were 5 awards and Micrima were pleased to be awarded the Innovation Award for 2017 beating many exciting innovations for this prestigious award. Micrima representatives thanked Medilink, their investors and the diligent work of the Micrima employees in the development of this innovation.
July 2016- Symposium Mammographicum poster award
